Pelham Line walk under the el in 2024
The last full length all steel el line (complete line - opened in 1920). The music I chose may not be to your liking, you can turn it down and not miss anything. At the end are some scenes from the Q50 LTD bus ride back to Queens. The walk was about 4 miles long taking 2 hours excluding lunch.
From 1913 to 1920 hundreds of miles of el trackways, just like the three over Westchester Avenue, were erected and immediately put to use. A World War AND pandemic happened in the middle of it all as well. Many sacrificed their personal time, health and lives to accomplish such a miraculous feat.

The original 53 minute film was broadcast in July 1961. There are many interesting scenes interspersed between long and not terribly interesting interviews. The music I inserted is Fall Out by Johnny Hawksworth (UK 1967). Notice how little has changed traffic wise (and won't change). I loved living by the el. Grew up in Astoria by 32nd 23rd road. The el was 1 block from my house. I lived on the 4th floor saw all the great trains. Pass the els. All day and night. Today I live by water miss the el sounds so much I listen to train videos at night just to sleep.

Would get on his train every morning when I started going to HS in Manhattan in 1989. All the other conductors would yell "step lively step lively". I think the MTA got sued for that.

I have the pleasure of cleaning the old school fleet buses. They are now located in Manhattanville depot. Some of the old legend buses still have ads from the 80s inside of the bus. I’m a bus operator now and I love my career. I love vintage vids like these.

Watching videos of the Pelham elevated make me feel like I was doxxed, since I lived on this portion of the (6) my entire life. However, I like that people acknowledge the line's existence, since I love the (6).

1993 was the year when I've foot in Flushing and it is a really big scene here with very busy people mostly Chinese and Businesses here still keeps rising.
